January 2009
After 45 years of service to the
community of Succasunna and surrounding areas, St.
Therese School opened in September, 2008 with two
hundred seventy three students. Most of our classes
range from 25 to 28 students (PreK3/4 thru 8th
grade). The Kindergarten is a full day
program with an aide. Our PreK3 runs for two half
days and our PreK4 for 3 full days with the option
of AM or PM half days.
We are very proud of the success of our school. It all
happens because of the strong support of our parish
community, dedicated parents, faculty and staff.
Many of our alumni have returned and enrolled their
own children in St. Therese School. Our Home and
School Association works very hard at bingo and many
fund raisers to keep St. Therese functioning. Our
faculty continues to up-date themselves academically
and spiritually by attending workshops offered by
the Diocese and Roxbury Township.
Our Parish has three spiritual leaders
who influence our students in many ways. They
teach, administer all the sacraments and are there
to assist during good times and not so good times.
We have renovated all of our classrooms
over the past few years and this year we renovated
our school kitchen and installed Smart Boards. The
school utilizes Power School software for grading
and allows parental internet access to student
assignments and grades. We also use the Honeywell
Instant Alert System for emergency and non-emergency
notification to our families.
Students are participating in many
clubs, geography bees, forensics, spelling bees and
in the Junior National Young Leaders Conference
since 2003.
Our family nights are open to the whole
parish and community. We have various activities
such as an ice cream social, Halloween party,
breakfast with Santa, family bowling, Valentine
dance, basketball contest between students and
parents, and family picnic.
Anyone who is interested in St. Therese
School, please feel free to come and visit us to see
for yourself what is happening. During Catholic
Schools Week we will have open houses with Teachers
and parents on hand to share with you why they are
here teaching and why they have their children in
St. Therese School.
